“Flory delivers a strong and complex crime thriller speckled with sharp action, salty dialog, and deep character development. Trust Misplaced moves at a steady pace, and weaves subplots into a complex tapestry that is sure to engross fans of Connelly, Patterson, and Coben.”
Christopher Flory’s first detective crime novel, Trust Misplaced, is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat with its fast-moving action and richly conceived characters. Most memorable is the hero, Paul Dodge, a parole officer, who is part of the local Sex Crimes Task Force. As Dodge digs into a particularly twisted and difficult case, he finds lies and corruption among the top powerbrokers. With his own career on the line for breaking the rules, Dodge’s career, as well as his life, are at stake. Worse yet, he doesn’t know who to trust.
Flory himself served as a parole officer and describes how parole officers work with the police to solve crimes. Aside from the book’s thrills, chills, and narrow escapes, I learned about this important aspect of law enforcement. Highly recommended, especially for lovers of police procedurals and Suspense and thriller books.
"The Savior is a gritty, realistic thriller that takes readers into some of the darker alleys of human nature – but with lots of heart and intelligence. Flory knows how to create rich, memorable characters, and to move his story forward with Lee Child-style pacing and Harlan Coben-like twists. Paul Dodge, the shrewd but flawed protagonist, is a parole agent whose career takes a detour when he’s assigned a serial killer case that isn’t what it seems to be. Packed with action and surprises – and a mysterious but unforgettable villain in the title character – The Savior is a compelling and thought-provoking novel that leaves the reader wanting more. I look forward to reading the next in this series."
“Chris Flory has written a heart-pounding police procedural: fast-paced, gritty, dripping with authenticity — and blood.”
“A solid, clever thriller with twists to spare.”
As a parole agent specializing in sexually based crimes and a member of the local Sex Crimes Task Force, Paul Dodge is used to the depravity relished by those on the fringes of society. But when the picture of a young girl turns up during the investigation of a local sexual predator, Dodge is forced to take on his most dangerous case to date.
As the case unfolds and Dodge comes closer to uncovering the true identity of the person stalking the young girl, a friend of hers is found dead in an alley across town. Are the two cases related? Dodge will need to work fast to unweave the tangled web of lies and government corruption while, at the same time, deal with a personal loss that could change his life and alter the course of his career forever.
A hurricane, drugs, and a ruthless kingpin land Dodge in a deadly tropical mix. In the wake of a hurricane, a young girl is found dead in a shipping container in St. Thomas. Short-handed with agents and residents picking up the pieces after the storm, the FBI calls in Paul Dodge, who was taking an all-too-rare vacation in the sun and sand. The case quickly escalates and lands the agent in a world of gangs, drugs, and human trafficking. Dodge will need to rely on his years of training and military skills if he is to survive the coming
showdown and find justice for the victim.
Women on the streets are being found brutally butchered. Police believe the cases are the result of a serial killer stalking local prostitutes, and they don't know how to stop him. When Dodge is called in to help identify a suspect, he quickly realizes the murders are more than random acts. They are personal. This is his most dangerous adversary yet. Can Dodge stop the killer before he strikes again?
The Savior was awarded 3rd place at The Bookfest Fall 2023 Book Awards, in the Police Procedurals/Detective category!
